Welcome to Luna — Bedtime stories rewritten (“the App”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal information collected. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share the information you provide when using Luna Storytelling.

OVERVIEW & AUDIENCE

  • Target Audience: Luna is purchased and owned by adults (parents/guardians). While children may participate in storytime sessions, the main user account and any associated data are under the parent’s control.
  • Age Requirements: We generally recommend that users be at least 13 years old to download or use the App independently. If younger users are involved, it is solely under the supervision of a parent or guardian.


WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Account & Payment Data

  • Apple ID / iCloud Account: Used to verify in-app purchases (IAP) and restore them on authorized devices.
  • Device Information: May include device type, operating system, and other technical data automatically provided by your device.

2.2 AI Story Requests

  • If you choose to generate custom stories, we send your prompts to OpenAI’s API to create personalized narratives. We do not store or log these prompts beyond what is necessary for immediate processing.

2.3 No Persistent Analytics

  • We do NOT use persistent analytics tools to track your usage over time. Any potential data used for real-time troubleshooting is ephemeral and not retained.

2.4 Children’s Data

  • We do not directly collect personal information from children. Any data entered in the App (e.g., a child’s name in a story) is provided by the parent. Because we do not store these inputs, we have no means to further process or share them.


HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION

3.1 Service Provision

  • We use your Apple ID/iCloud account to authenticate and verify payments. This ensures any purchases (e.g., premium stories or features) remain accessible on your devices.

3.2 AI-Generated Stories

  • Story prompts you enter are sent to OpenAI’s servers via an API call to generate creative text (and/or images if DALL·E is used).
  • We do NOT keep a record of these prompts or the resulting AI-generated output beyond what’s necessary for immediate display in the App.

3.3 Compliance & Safety

  • We may use minimal device information to detect fraud or abuse.
  • We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY & COPPA

4.1 Parental Supervision

  • Because Luna is technically owned by the parent (adult), children’s usage of the App is under parental oversight.
  • We do not knowingly collect, store, or share personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

4.2 Accidental Collection

  • If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal data about a child, please contact us. We will promptly delete any such data.

GDPR & INTERNATIONAL USE

5.1 Data Controller & Transfers

  • If you’re located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, know that your information may be transferred internationally (e.g., to the United States for OpenAI’s processing). We take steps to ensure these transfers comply with relevant data protection laws.

5.2 Your GDPR Rights

  • Right of Access: You may request copies of any personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Erasure: You can ask us to delete any information about you that we’ve collected (noting that we store minimal data to begin with).
  • Right to Object or Restrict: You can object to or request restrictions on certain processing activities.

OPT-OUT MECHANISMS
6.1 Apple Dialogue & Privacy Settings

  • Apple may prompt you to manage your privacy preferences. Since we do not collect personal analytics, opting out will not affect the normal operation of Luna.

6.2 Deletion or Modification

DATA RETENTION & SECURITY

7.1 Retention

  • We keep the minimal personal data (e.g., purchase validations) only as long as needed to provide the App’s services or comply with legal requirements.

7.2 Security

  • We use industry-standard security measures (encrypted connections, secure servers, restricted access) to protect your information.
  • While we strive to protect your data, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, so please also protect your own device and account credentials.

SHARING OF INFORMATION

8.1 OpenAI

  • When you request AI-generated stories, your prompts are shared with OpenAI’s API. OpenAI has its own data handling policies; we encourage you to review OpenAI’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • We do not control OpenAI’s servers, but we avoid storing these prompts on our end.

8.2 Legal Obligations

We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation or process
  • Protect and defend our rights or property
  • Ensure the safety of our users
