Set up once. Create stories forever

Luna’s story creation is powered by a personal access key from your OpenAI account. It’s quick and easy to set up, and no ChatGPT Plus subscription is needed.

You’ll only need to do this once, and it takes just 2–3 minutes.

Jump in and if you've already started or completed one of these steps already, just skip ahead.

Step 1
Create an OpenAI account

First up, you’ll need to create an OpenAI account as all story creation from here on in will be solely between you and OpenAI. Head to OpenAI’s website, sign up, and follow the prompts to complete your setup.

Step 2
Power your key with OpenAI credit

After unlocking the app, Luna is free forever, but creating stories with OpenAI does have small PAYG costs — even storytelling magic needs a little power!



Just $5.00 credit added to your OpenAI account creates around 10-12 illustrated books fuelled by your child’s imagination! It's like a pay-as-you-go personalised bookstore, and any credit you add to your account remains untouched until you create your next book.

Credit is added in the 'billing' section of your OpenAI account profile.

Step 3
Create a unique access key

You need a unique key that Luna can use to identify your account when creating stories. To create yours, navigate to the “API Keys” section of your OpenAI account area.

Click “Create new secret key” to generate.

Step 4
Copy your key to Luna

With your secret key now generated, simply copy it from your OpenAI dashboard, and return to Luna to paste it into the ‘OpenAI key’ section found within the main menu (top right).

That's it! With credit loaded and Luna now linked to your OpenAI account, tap ‘Create a Story’ from the homescreen, and let the adventures begin!
